FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about BP Simple — trial, pricing, privacy, data, and health sync.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is BP Simple free?

BP Simple is free to install and fully functional for 14 days. After the trial, one $12.99 purchase unlocks everything permanently. There is no subscription and no advertising — ever.

What happens after the 14-day trial?

Adding new readings, editing, health sync, charts, averages, and medication reminders stop working. But your data is not locked and never deleted. You can still:

  • View your full reading history
  • Export your data as a CSV file
  • Generate a PDF report for your doctor

These remain available forever, without paying. If you later decide to purchase, all features resume with all your data intact.

Does BP Simple require a subscription?

No. One payment of $12.99, one time, unlocks the app permanently on the store account that purchased it. No monthly charge, no annual charge, no hidden fees.

Does BP Simple collect my data?

No. BP Simple has no server, no account, no login, and no telemetry. All your data — blood pressure readings, weight, medications, notes — stays on your device. Nothing is transmitted unless you explicitly choose to share a file (CSV or PDF) through your phone's share sheet.

Is my data backed up?

BP Simple's database is included in your device's standard platform backup (iCloud Backup on iOS, Google Backup on Android). However, device backup only covers same-platform restore scenarios. If you switch from iOS to Android (or vice versa), or if you reinstall the app without a restore, your data will not carry over.

The reliable way to move your data: export a CSV from BP Simple, save it somewhere safe, and import it on your new device. The CSV is a complete copy of all your readings, weight entries, medications, schedules, and events.

Can BP Simple measure my blood pressure?

No. BP Simple logs readings you take with your home blood-pressure cuff. A phone cannot measure blood pressure. BP Simple is not medical advice. If you have a health concern, contact your clinician.

Do I need Apple Health or Health Connect to use BP Simple?

No. Health-store sync is entirely optional. You can log readings, view your history, export data, and generate reports with no health-store connection. If you do connect Apple Health or Health Connect, BP Simple can read and write blood pressure, heart rate, and weight data to keep everything in one place.

What health data does BP Simple read and write?

Data iOS (HealthKit) Android (Health Connect) Direction
Blood pressure (systolic + diastolic) Correlation BloodPressureRecord Read and write
Heart rate (pulse) Sample HeartRateRecord Read and write
Body weight Sample WeightRecord Read only

Health data is never transmitted off your device. The only network calls BP Simple makes are for the platform billing system (to process the optional $12.99 purchase) and, optionally, Expo EAS updates — neither of which touches health data.

Is my purchase shared between iPhone and Android?

No. The $12.99 unlock applies to the store account on which it was purchased. An iOS purchase does not unlock the Android app, and vice versa. This is a platform limitation set by Apple and Google, not a BP Simple choice.

Can I restore my purchase after reinstalling?

Yes. If you reinstall BP Simple on the same platform with the same store account, use the Restore Purchase option in Settings to re-activate your unlock at no additional cost.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. BP Simple offers delete-one (a single reading) and delete-all (everything). Both require confirmation and both state plainly that samples already written to Apple Health or Health Connect are not deleted by BP Simple — you must remove those from the Health or Health Connect app directly. Deleted records that were originally imported from the health store are marked so they will not be re-imported on the next sync.

What devices and OS versions are supported?

  • iOS: 17.0 or later
  • Android: 10 (API 29) or later

Health Connect is built into Android 14+ and is a separate install on Android 10–13. If Health Connect is not available on your device, BP Simple works normally without it.

Does BP Simple work offline?

Yes. Every core feature — logging, history, charts, export, reports, medication reminders — works with no network connection. No error is shown for absent connectivity. The only features that require network are the optional purchase and app updates.

Does BP Simple show me if my blood pressure is "high" or "normal"?

No. BP Simple does not classify, interpret, or label readings. It records what you enter and shows it back to you on a timeline with averages. Interpreting blood pressure is a clinical judgment that belongs to your doctor, not an app.

Can I print a report for my doctor?

Yes. BP Simple generates a PDF report on your device for any date range. The report includes your reading table, morning and evening averages with sample counts, medication events, and the disclaimer. You can optionally add your name to the report header. The PDF opens in your phone's share sheet so you can print, email, or save it.

What does "Name on report" do?

The Name on report field is optional. If you set it, your name appears in the header of exported PDF reports. It is stored only on your device and is never transmitted. It does not appear in CSV exports. You can change or clear it at any time in Settings.
