How ScoreDeck works — scoring, undo, teams, colors, timer, sets, and the one-time purchase. iOS 17+, iPhone.

Overview
ScoreDeck is a live scoreboard for keeping score at a game you're actually watching — volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, pickleball, or any other point-based match. One tap adds a point. Undo fixes mistakes in one tap. The score is always on screen, and nothing ever interrupts it: no ads, no pop-ups, no "upgrade to pro."
ScoreDeck is built local-first. There is no account, no login, no server, no analytics, and no internet requirement. Everything runs on your phone, and your scores never leave it.
What's included
Every feature below is included in the single one-time purchase. There are no tiers and no locked extras.
- One-tap scoring — tap a team's side to add exactly one point
- Instant undo — reverse the last scoring action (or a timer start/stop) with one tap
- Up to 8 teams per match, up to 20 named players per team
- Team names and colors — replace "Team 1 vs Team 2" with real names and colors you choose
- Game timer — start, pause, and reset, without ever blocking the scoring buttons
- Set/period tracking — current set score plus a match-level sets-won tally
- Portrait and landscape — one-handed scoring on the sideline, or tabletop in landscape
- Relaunch restore — force-quit mid-game? ScoreDeck restores your exact score when you reopen it
Scoring
Adding a point
Tap the scoring team's side. Each tap adds exactly one point.
The scoring surface is built for the sideline: large targets, no menu digging, and rapid taps are handled reliably. ScoreDeck deliberately ignores double-taps that land on the same target within a fraction of a second, so one finger slip can't add two points. Haptic feedback confirms every score so you know it landed without taking your eyes off the game.
Undo
Mistakes happen. Tap Undo and the last point is reversed instantly — one tap, no confirmation dialog, no "edit score" screen. Undo works repeatedly to walk back several mistaken taps, and it also reverses accidental timer start/stop toggles.
Undo is a core design choice, not an afterthought: in the heat of a match you will tap the wrong side, and fixing it should take less than a second.
Teams, players, and colors
- Set up a match with up to 8 teams.
- Name teams whatever the game needs — "Cougars," "Smith Family," "Red vs Blue" — and give each a color from the palette so you can tell sides apart at a glance.
- Add up to 20 players per team by name.
- Team names and colors persist for the session and across relaunches.
Game timer
The built-in timer starts, pauses, and resets with dedicated controls. It is designed never to block scoring: the timer never covers the score or the tap targets, and both work at the same time. The timer tracks elapsed time accurately (it uses the device's monotonic clock, so a timezone change or DST shift can't scramble it).
Sets and periods
ScoreDeck tracks the current set or period. When a set ends, advance to the next set with one tap: the game score resets for the new set while a match-level sets-won tally updates, so parents and coaches see both the current set and the match picture.
New game
New Game clears the current score, sets, and timer. It is guarded by an explicit confirmation so a stray tap can't wipe a live game. New Game clears the current game only — there is no bulk delete and no cloud copy to worry about.
Purchase, restore, and refunds
- Price: $4.99, one time. No subscription, no trial timer, no recurring charge.
- What it unlocks: everything — teams, players, colors, timer, sets, both orientations, and every future feature of the app. There is no "pro" tier and nothing else to buy.
- Restore: reinstalled the app or got a new phone? Use Restore Purchase in Settings. As long as you're on the same Apple ID, the unlock comes back at no cost.
- Family Sharing: when enabled for the purchase, family members can download ScoreDeck and restore the unlock on their own devices.
- Refunds: purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund through Apple's Report a Problem page (reportaproblem.apple.com), or contact us and we'll point you to the right place.
Data and privacy
- All game data — scores, teams, names, colors, settings — is stored locally on your device.
- No cloud sync, no server, no analytics, no advertising SDK. ScoreDeck makes no network requests during normal use and works on airplane mode.
- Your app data is included in standard iCloud device backup if you have backups enabled; it restores only during a device restore from that backup.
- Deleting the app removes its local data. You can also clear the current game from within the app.

Accessibility
ScoreDeck is built so everyone can keep score:
- VoiceOver announces the team and score when you tap
- Dynamic Type scales to the largest text sizes
- Score and team names are shown as text, not color alone
- Scoring targets meet the recommended minimum touch-target size
- Reduce Motion is honored
Requirements and boundaries
- Minimum OS: iOS 17.0
- Devices: iPhone (portrait and landscape). iPad, Apple Watch, and Android are not supported in version 1.
- Offline: fully functional with no internet connection.
- What ScoreDeck is not: not a stats tracker, not a league manager, not a streaming app, not a referee decision system. Scores are records you enter — ScoreDeck does not judge plays, calls, or outcomes.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Score added on the wrong side | Tap Undo — the last point is reversed instantly |
| Score looks wrong after backgrounding the app | Quit and reopen ScoreDeck; it restores the last saved state |
| Purchase shows locked after reinstall | Settings → Restore Purchase (same Apple ID required) |
| App won't install | Confirm your iPhone runs iOS 17.0 or later |
| Something else | Email support@tlcdesigns.com with your device model, OS version, and what happened |
