ScoreDeck FAQ
Ads and interruptions
Does ScoreDeck show ads?
No. ScoreDeck has no ads — not during your game, not on the menu, not ever. There is no ad SDK in the app and no "remove ads" purchase, because there is nothing to remove.
Why does ScoreDeck make such a point about no ads?
Because ads interrupting live scoring are the #1 complaint in scoreboard apps — 89% of negative reviews for the leading scoreboard app are about ads popping up mid-match, including unskippable video ads between taps. Some parents reported inappropriate ad content appearing at children's games. ScoreDeck is built the opposite way: nothing can appear on your screen that you didn't put there.
Is ScoreDeck okay to use around kids?
Yes. Because ScoreDeck shows no third-party content of any kind — no ads, no feed, no web content — it is appropriate for school gyms, youth tournaments, and anywhere children are playing.
Price and purchase
How much does ScoreDeck cost?
$4.99, one time. No subscription, no monthly or annual fee, no trial timer, no recurring charge.
What do I get for $4.99?
Everything. The one purchase unlocks the full app permanently: up to 8 teams, up to 20 players per team, team names and colors, portrait and landscape, the timer, set tracking — all of it, now and in future updates. There is no "pro" tier and nothing else to buy, ever.
Why is there no free version?
ScoreDeck's whole reason to exist is that free scoreboard apps interrupt your game with ads or lock basic features behind a paywall. A free ad-supported version would be the exact product people are complaining about. Instead, ScoreDeck is a single small purchase with no ads and no locked features. If it's not for you, Apple's standard refund process applies — no questions, no account needed.
How is this different from "scoreboard apps with a pro upgrade"?
Many scoreboard apps are free to download, then gate portrait mode, more than two players, colors, or a timer behind a "pro" purchase — and some users report paying and still hitting limits. ScoreDeck inverts that: the App Store price is the whole app. Everything listed on the page is included, and nothing inside asks you to pay again.
Purchase mechanics
I bought ScoreDeck but reinstalled / got a new phone and it shows locked.
Use Restore Purchase in Settings. If the purchase was made with the same Apple ID, it restores immediately at no cost.
Can my family use my purchase?
If Family Sharing is enabled for the purchase, yes — family members can download ScoreDeck and restore the unlock on their own devices with their own Apple ID.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Contact us if you have trouble and we'll point you to the right place.
Offline, accounts, and data
Does ScoreDeck need internet?
No. ScoreDeck works completely offline — in a gym with no signal, on airplane mode, anywhere. The only network interaction in the entire app is Apple's billing sheet when you make the optional purchase.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account, no login, no sign-up, and no server. Open the app and keep score.
Does ScoreDeck collect my data?
No. ScoreDeck collects nothing — no analytics, no tracking, no usage reporting, no personal information. The App Store App Privacy declaration is Data Not Collected. Everything you enter stays on your device.
What happens to my game if the app is killed or my phone dies mid-game?
ScoreDeck saves your game state locally as you score. When you relaunch, it restores the last saved score — team names, colors, current set, and set tally included. A force-quit mid-game does not lose the score.
Does my data sync between devices?
No. ScoreDeck is local-only by design. There is no cloud sync and no account to sync through. Your data is included in standard iCloud device backup if you have backups enabled, so a device restore brings it back, but there is no live multi-device sync.
Scoring and features
How do I add a point?
Tap the scoring team's side. One tap = one point. ScoreDeck ignores accidental double-taps on the same target within a fraction of a second, so a slip can't add two points, and haptic feedback confirms every score.
What if I tap the wrong team?
Tap Undo. The last point is reversed instantly — one tap, no dialogs, no menu digging. Undo works repeatedly to walk back several mistakes, and it also reverses an accidental timer start/stop.
How many teams can I set up?
Up to 8 teams in a match setup, with up to 20 players per team. Team names are free text — "Cougars," "Smith Family," whatever the game needs — and colors are selectable per team.
Can I name the teams?
Yes. Team names are your text, shown on the scoreboard. No more "Team 1 vs Team 2."
Does ScoreDeck work in portrait and landscape?
Yes. Score one-handed in portrait from the sideline, or set the phone down in landscape as a tabletop scoreboard.
Does ScoreDeck have a timer?
Yes. A built-in game timer starts, pauses, and resets without ever blocking the scoring buttons — you can run the clock and keep score at the same time. It uses the device's monotonic clock, so timezone changes can't scramble it.
Does ScoreDeck track sets?
Yes. Track the current set or period score, then advance to the next set with one tap. The game score resets for the new set while a match-level sets-won tally updates, so you see both the current set and the match picture.
What sports does ScoreDeck work for?
Any point-based game: volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, pickleball, tennis, cornhole, board games, family tournaments. If you score by points, ScoreDeck can keep the tally. It does not enforce sport rules — it records what you enter.
Does ScoreDeck measure anything or connect to wearables?
No. ScoreDeck is a scoreboard. It does not measure performance, connect to sensors, or track stats. It keeps the score, and that's its whole job.
Version 1 limitations
Is ScoreDeck available on iPad?
Not in version 1. ScoreDeck v1 targets iPhone in portrait and landscape. iPad support is under consideration for a later version.
Is ScoreDeck on Android?
Not yet. Version 1 is iOS only. An Android version is under consideration.
Can I export or print the score after a game?
Not in version 1. Export and printing are planned for a later version. If that matters to you, let us know — feedback drives what we build next.
What's the minimum iOS version?
iOS 17.0 or later, on iPhone.
Does ScoreDeck have sound effects?
No sound effects in version 1. Scoring is confirmed with haptics and a visual flash instead — which also keeps ScoreDeck usable in a quiet gym.
Feedback
How do I request a feature or report a problem?
Email support@tlcdesigns.com. ScoreDeck is built from user feedback — the no-ads design, instant undo, team naming, colors, and set tracking all exist because scoreboard users asked for them. We read every message.
