Getting Started

Your first limit — grant Screen Time permission, pick your distracting apps, set a schedule, and run your first focus session.

Getting Started

AppLimit launch screen

Every launch opens on one screen: your blocking state and today's usage. No menu maze between you and the limit.

Grant Screen Time permission

The first thing AppLimit asks for is Apple's Screen Time permission, through Apple's own picker — AppLimit never sees your passcode and never gets your usage data on a server, because there is no server. Without this grant, iOS can't enforce anything, so the app explains plainly what it's for and lets you retry any time from Settings.

If you decline, the app still works as a timer and goal tracker — but nothing gets blocked. Grant it when you're ready.

Pick the apps that distract you

Open the selection screen and choose the apps and sites you want limited. Be honest, not ambitious: three feeds you actually lose time to beat a list of twenty you don't. Everything you don't pick keeps working exactly as before — AppLimit never touches calls, texts, maps, or music unless you tell it to.

Set your first schedule — or don't

A schedule switches your rules automatically: feeds off during work hours, quiet at bedtime. But you don't need one on day one. A single always-on rule for your worst app is a fine first week. When you're ready, the schedule editor walks through it: Schedules.

Run a focus session

When it's time to work, start a timed focus session. The timer runs, your limits hold, and when it ends AppLimit hands you a real break instead of dumping you back into the feed. Details: Focus sessions.

Check today's usage

The home screen always shows today's numbers next to your blocking state. Set a goal when you want one — the widget puts the same glance on your Home Screen. Details: Goals & history.

The 7-day trial

Everything above — blocking, schedules, sessions, goals, history — works from the first minute, free, for seven days. When the trial ends, one $3.99 purchase unlocks creating and changing things, forever. Your history stays available either way.
