Units & Rounding

Imperial and metric operands in the same expression, an explicit result unit, five smallest-fraction steps, and decimal inches to four places.

Units & rounding

Plans in metric, lumber in imperial? Enter both. ConstructionPal accepts imperial feet and inches alongside metric metres, centimetres, and millimetres — mixed-unit expressions are normal input, not a special mode.

Operands and result unit

  • Imperial: feet, inches, fractional and decimal inches.
  • Metric: metres, centimetres, millimetres.
  • Mixed expressions: 2 m + 6′ 3″ computes directly.
  • Result unit is explicit and selectable. Imperial is the default. Choosing metric changes emphasis only — the imperial form stays visible beside it.

Smallest fraction

Five steps: 1/2″, 1/4″, 1/8″, 1/16″ (default), 1/32″. The display rounds each answer to the nearest displayable fraction at your step, ties away from zero. The stored exact value is untouched — step down to 1/32″ later and the answer sharpens from the true value, not from a rounded one.

Decimal inches

Decimal-inch entry and display go to four places (0.4375″). Four places resolve a 1/16″ (0.0625″) exactly, so decimal and fraction forms always agree.
